An unofficial Obey Me Secret Santa gift exchange for Artists and Writers across the fandom!

Check In Mod
Check In Mods will be going through participant's gifts-in-progress during check ins and will be making sure that a participant's gift meets the minimum requirements of that check in. They will also be making sure that the gift does not contain anything NSFW or anything listed as triggering on the participant's giftee's trigger list.
Discord Chat Mod
Chat Mods will be expected to monitor the different chats and channels within the secret santa server to ensure things are kept SFW and that people are talking within the correct channels. They may also be asked to moderate RP chats if any of the boys from Obey Me make an appearance in the server.

⭐What is a Secret Santa gift exchange?
"An arrangement in which a group of friends or colleagues exchange gifts anonymously, each member of the group being assigned another member for whom to provide a gift."
⭐ Is this a NSFW or SFW event?
This will be a strictly SFW event.
⭐ Is there a minimum age I need to be to be able to join the event?
Yes, you must be at least 16 or older to participate in the exchange.
⭐ Am I allowed to participate as both a writer and artist?
No, you'll be expected to produce a gift depending on what category you signed up for, as either an artist or writer.
⭐ If I sign up to participate as a writer, will I be able to receive art as a gift? Same goes for if I sign up to participate as an artist, am I able to receive a fic as a gift?
You will be able to receive either gift you'd prefer whether you sign up to be an artist or writer. Just make sure to note what gift preference you have when filling out the sign up form.
⭐ What kind of content will be gifted?
Gifts must take the form of an original art piece or work of fiction.
⭐ I am a traditional artist, am I still allowed to participate?
Yes, but you must be able to take a clear picture or scan of your artwork so that it can be posted online.
⭐ Do I need to include all of the preferences my gift recipient has on their Wish List?
No, you don’t need to include everything they list, it is up to you to interpret and choose what to include from their list. It may help to see their list as more of a guideline instead of a checklist. If you need more clarification on your gift recipient’s list then send us an email [email protected]
⭐ Do gifts need to be festive or winter-themed?
It doesn't have to be but if your recipient requests something specifically winter-themed then it will be something to take into consideration.
⭐ Are we allowed to send physical gifts?
No, this is a strictly digital event. If you are a traditional artist then please ensure that you are able to take a clear picture or scan of your artwork to upload digitally before joining.
⭐ Am I allowed to make changes to my application after I submit it?
Yes, you should be able to edit your application up until Oct 30th which is when Sign ups close. If you are having issues editing your own application then send us an email at [email protected]
⭐ What is a Pinch-Hitter and what are their duties?
If a participant drops out of the exchange or is unable to complete their gift then a Pinch-Hitter will step in as back up to create a gift for anyone whose secret santa dropped out. Keep in mind that Pinch-Hitters will have a limited amount of time to complete their back up gift and will still be held to the same submission guidelines as everyone else. So please consider these expectations before agreeing to be a pinch-hitter.
⭐ What pairings and characters are allowed?
Almost any shipping and obey me characters will be allowed, MC X Obey Me character, or Obey Me Character x Obey Me character. We do not allow any romantic shipping with Luke / minors. We also understand that there is discourse around whether the obey me brothers are actually biological brothers or not. for the sake of ease for the event we will not be allowing brother x brother romantic pairings.
⭐Are we allowed to post our written work gifts on Ao3?
Yes you are allowed to! Just make sure to post within the posting period, Dec 22nd - Dec 28th.
⭐ Will we receive our giftee's social media accounts when secret santa assignments are emailed?
No, you will get your giftee's social media just before the posting period, this is to prevent any secret santa from reaching out to their giftee on their own. If you have a question for your giftee then either email us DM your assigned Lead Mod and we'll reach out to your giftee for you.
⭐ Am I allowed to participate even though I do not observe Christmas?
Yes, anyone is able to join in the gift exchange regardless of whether you celebrate Christmas or not!

Rules & Guidelines
Communication will be done primarily through email and discord so if you do not have a discord already then please create one.
This will be a strictly SFW event! We want to include as many fans across the fandom so we will not be allowing NSFW content this time around.
Keep who you are a secret santa for secret! All gifts will be posted within the gifting period Dec 22nd - 28th, so please refrain from posting previews of the art or fic you’re working on for your recipient until then.
Gifts must be created specifically for this gift exchange, reusing/repurposing old art or fanfiction will not be accepted. Image edits are also not allowed.

After Sign Ups conclude, an Email with your assigned recipient will be sent out around Nov 3rd - 6th. Along with the assignment, you'll be invited to the Obey Me Secret Santa discord server which is mandatory to join as it will be our main way to communicate.
The First check in is due by Nov 13th. This is to make sure you're making progress on your piece. If you do not have anything started by this point or have not communicated with a mod about needing an extension then you may be dropped from the exchange.
The Second check in will be due by Dec 4th. We will be checking that substantial progress has been made on your gift since the first check in. If you have not progressed since the first check in and haven't communicated with a mod about needing an extension then you may be dropped from the exchange.
Please communicate with us if an issue comes up so we can work with you, we'd appreciate that over getting no response and having to scramble to find a pinch-hitter last minute.
Pinch-Hitters will be contacted in the proceeding days after the Check ins if need be, in case another participant has dropped out of the exchange.
The final day to voluntarily drop from the exchange without consequence will be Dec 11th.
The Completed Gift Deadline will be due on Dec 18th. If you do not have your gift finished per the minimum requirements (Artists: Minimum flat colored bust piece / Writers: Minimum 1,000 words) then you may be dropped and banned from future events.
The gift posting period will take place from Dec 22nd - 28th! There will be a special tag just for this event when posting to social media.
If you are unable to complete your gift for any reason then please contact a mod or send us an email at [email protected] immediately so we can ensure your recipient still receives a gift. Remember that the final day to drop from the exchange without consequence will be Dec 11th.
Artist and Writer Gift Guidelines
Artists: Minimum flat colored piece, at least bust up
Writers: Minimum 1,000 words, completed self-contained story
There is no maximum to how much effort you can put into your completed gift but they must at least meet the requirements listed above.
Traditional art is accepted however you must be able to take a clean scan or photo of the finished artwork when you submit it as completed.
We will not accept any final artwork that has been drawn on lined pieces of paper.
We will not be accepting any traced artwork or artwork that relies Heavily on the use of a template or base. Please send us an email at [email protected] if you need clarification.
For artists, you do Not need to include a fully rendered background for your gift, you may just fill it in with a solid color or use a free stock photo background if it has been blurred and if you are able to link credit back to the original owner. Moderators of the event will also be making and providing free art to use as backgrounds for your art as a resource.
For artists we ask that you please submit your completed artworks in either a .png or .jpg file type.
For writers We ask that you submit your final completed fic in either a .doc or .pdf file type.
